Horse Hair Pottery for Annie
Here is the finished product for a vessel I make for the owners of Annie. This has gone through many steps: clay is wedged, thrown on the potter’s wheel, trimmed, dried, Terra sigillata is brushed on and polished to a sheen, vessel is bisque fired to 1600 degrees, then (as the other video shows) it is heated to 1000 degrees and the horse hair is burned on. Then vessel is allowed to cool, it’s cleaned and several coats of wax are applied. Here is the finished product.
